Requirement 13 of PSM - Compliance Audits
In this video we are going to take a look at PSM element number 13 which is compliance audits.
There are some very specific requirements that OSHA provides in this element and that is that you have to have a compliance audit to PSM once every three years and then you have to maintain records of at least your previous two audits.
What that means is that you will have a series of recurring audits of your PSM system, and that includes all of the 14 elements. You will then have a complete record of the results of those audits, any improvements that come as a result, as well as who did the audits and their certifications.
You want to be able to capture that information into a centralised reporting data base so that you can easily demonstrate to the auditors that you have done the audits, you have records of the previous two audits and that you have a record of all the results of the audits.
This is where a good integrated auditing solution can help you out in that you can have templates for those audits, you can schedule a recurrence of the audits and you can ensure that it is assigned to an appropriately trained auditor to go out and inspect the different elements of the PSM system.
